Item Description:

Here is a most unusual clock. It is a 24 inch high clock under a round glass dome. The width is 11 inches, and it has a 4 ¾ inch skeletonized dial, showing all the delicately designed gears of the clock. It is signed on the porcelain arabic numeral dial by the original maker, "WM. Smith, Mussellburch", the maker and inventor of it. The original of this piece sold in February, 1992 at Sotheby's for almost $20,000. We have made this clock almost identical to that original. It is so unusual, because it has a chain fussee movement inside the dial, connected to the pulley, which expands the coiled spring, to provide the power to the clock. You can see the coiled spring expand when it is being wound, and creating its own power to run the clock. There are six brass columns, one on each side of the coiled spring, which is the tower for the clock, on top of the beautiful marble base, which sets on knurled brass feet. It has a cylinder pendulum bob, which swings at a length of about 12 inches in back of the clock. This is truly an amazing clock, and one you will love to own. It is such a conversation piece, with its amazing power supply, so visible in the clock. It has shipping and insurance charges of $48 within the Continental USA. We will package the dome separately, so it will arrive without breakage, nor damage.
